Korean Beginners Part 1 Course overview
Learn to communicate using simple phrases with part 1 of our beginners Korean course. Our friendly and informal classes will help you to understand the essentials and get a feel for the Korean language in just 10 weeks.
In part 1, you’ll learn basic phrases to introduce yourself, talk about your routine and identify everyday items. You’ll be introduced to the subject-object-verb sentence structure and learn about formal and informal use of verbs in present tense.
Enrol on part 1 if want to try Korean without committing to a full year of learning. If you enjoy it, you can enrol on parts 2 and 3 to complete your beginners knowledge.
If you’re planning a holiday, reconnecting with distant relatives or just a fan of Korean cinema, you’ll be conversing in basic Korean in just 10 weeks.

Assessment and certificates
There is no formal assessment or accreditation attached to this course, but you will be awarded an official City, University of London certificate. You must attend over 70 per cent of the classes to be eligible for the certificate.
Teaching
Our native-language tutors make the course fun and interactive, with an emphasis on listening and speaking the language required in authentic situations.
Classroom activities will include role-playing, pair and group work, work on pronunciation and intonation, and grammar in context.
The lessons feature the use of audio clips and videos and you’ll also learn about Korean popular culture, including music and film.
More comprehensive grammar exercises and reading texts are generally set as homework.

This is a complete beginners course and no prior knowledge is required for Korean Beginners (Part 1).
