The Micro-Placements Programme offers opportunities for students who want to explore careers different from those traditionally associated with their degree.
Micro-Placements are an exciting way to gain professional experience via short summer placements with a wide range of UK-based employers.
The aim of the programme is to give you real-life exposure to the business environment and enhance your employability skills. The Micro-Placements Programme is a 15-credit elective module. All placements will be 140 hours across a minimum of 4 weeks.
Preparation sessions throughout the academic year and guidance materials will help you prepare for placement.
A means-tested MPP Hardship Bursary will also be available based on data held by the Student Loans Company. Those eligible will be contacted after they apply and are successfully selected onto the module.

This placement was a wonderful experience, and I have taken away more than I would have expected. Everyone made me feel so welcome, from the partners, solicitors, trainees, paralegals to the finance, IT and legal support team. My Micro-Placement host, was especially wonderful, always checking to make sure everything was going well. I have been given the independence to work on tasks by myself and was frequently tasked to draft client documents, which has been invaluable. Overall, this placement has been an incredible learning experience and I look forward to applying to the firm once I finish my course.
The Micro-Placements Programme gave me a better understanding of the world of work and life after university. I would recommend the Programme to those who are unsure of the sector they would like to pursue as the Programme has enabled me to think about my future and the type of work I would like to be in.
I would definitely recommend this Programme to students as it has given me realise experience of what professional jobs are actually like, and what I may be facing in the future. It has also given me more confidence in developing new skills that I was weak on before.
