Academic qualifications form the basis of applications for the majority of degree students at City, but in some cases relevant work experience will be considered as an entry criteria.
Applicants who do not have the standard academic requirement but who have significant life or work experience may be considered for entry on individual merit.
Eligible courses
Eligibility varies depending on the course. The descriptions for entry requirements on our course pages give you a general indication of an appropriate background for a course.
Work experience in a professional setting can be especially relevant for a number of our postgraduate master's degrees, where you may have an established background working in an industry related to that discipline.
Some courses at City also have foundation years that prepare you for the first year of specific undergraduate degree courses.
How to apply
Although you will still need to apply for the course through the same channels - UCAS for undergraduate degrees and through our online application system for postgraduate degrees - it is a good idea to contact admissions staff first.
They will discuss with you whether the degree is likely to help you achieve your goals and how your experience and educational background match the course requirements.
Evidence of any recent study, such as A-level evening classes, an Open University Foundation course or a kite-marked Access course, can be helpful to support your application.
