To celebrate its 20th anniversary the Emerging Markets Group (EMG) at Bayes Business School warmly invites you to join us for Professor Geert Bekaert’s webinar on 'Emerging Markets in a Globalising World'.
The EMG As the UK’s only university-based centre for promoting research in Emerging Markets has attracted some of the world’s most influential academics and financial organisations in its networking events including the Bank of England, the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development, International Monetary Fund, European Central Bank, World Bank, Bank of Spain, Bank of France, Bank of Ireland, Bank of Canada, Inter-American Development Bank, Financial Services Authority, and Bank of International Settlements and more.
Professor Bekaert’ research focus is on international finance, emerging markets, empirical asset pricing and portfolio management. His thesis won the Zellner Thesis Award in Business and Economic Statistics. Geert Bekaert has published over 70 articles in journals, such as the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial Economics, the Journal of Political Economy, the Review of Financial Studies and other academic journals. On this occasion, he is going to talk about whether the emerging markets can still be differentiated from developed markets, constituting a separate asset class in the current globalised world; what other emerging market asset classes are available to global investors beyond equities, such as currencies and corporate bonds with implications for portfolio diversification.
