The School of Science & Technology is committed to gender equality and holds a Bronze Athena Swan award in recognition of its commitment to improve gender equality.
Athena Swan Charter
City is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion as detailed in its strategy launched in 2020.
As part of this commitment the School of Science & Technology uses the Athena Swan charter framework to progress gender equality for all.
The charter was established by Advance HE in 2005. You can read more about the charter on the Advance HE website.
Bronze Award
The school was awarded a Bronze award in 2019 in recognition of its commitment to improve gender equality.
The school was praised for their detailed action plan to address gender inequalities, communication across the school about Athena SWAN and creating links with all-girls secondary schools.
An area to for the school to analyse next is any gender imbalances between permanent and funding-dependent roles.
The school will next renew their award in 2024.
