Malak studied for a degree in Computer Science at City, University of London, and graduated in 2013.
Why did you choose to study at City, University of London?
I chose City because of its proximity to the City of London and its strong network with companies, making it a great place to immerse oneself in order to connect with employers and understand the various career options available.
What did you enjoy most about your course?
I really enjoyed the opportunity to do a placement year. The Professional Development team really supported me through the application process, and aided my development during my studies and during my placement.
What was the highlight of your time at City, University of London?
There were two highlights of my time at City; the first one was when I got an offer for the placement at Goldman Sachs – I was so excited and I was really grateful to the Professional Development team for the support during the process.
The other moment was in my final year, when my final year project was chosen to be showcased at Made@City alongside the best projects done by other students completing their courses. I was greatly satisfied completing the course with such achievements.
How did City prepare you for your chosen career path?
City gave me a strong technical background as well as an awareness of the job market and what employers are looking for. Through City I had the opportunity of completing a placement year with Goldman Sachs. The experience gained at Goldman Sachs, together with the skills acquired during my studies at City, prepared me well for my current job.
