About
Overview
Eric Huang studied palaeontology at university with the ambition of becoming a paleontologist. The reality of field work didn't live up to his Jurassic Park dreams, though, so he moved back to his parents' house in Los Angeles and signed up with an agency that placed temps in entry-level positions at Hollywood film studios. As a result, he landed a job as the secretary to the Creative Director of Disney Publishing Worldwide, inadvertently launching a career in book publishing.
Over the past three decades, Eric has held editorial and publisher positions in companies on three continents, including Penguin Books. He was one of the people who lead the charge into digital publishing upon the debut of the first touchscreen devices. And he helped to transform the industry from an inward-looking community into one that is now a critical part of the media and entertainment landscape.
Since 2013, Eric been a consultant for publishers, children's media companies, and ed tech start-ups. He's also a podcaster and children's book author. The role at City St George's, University of London is Eric's first teaching position.
